Club History

On November 17th, 2020, the first ever meeting to establish the Liberty Eagles Hockey Club was held via Zoom. The meeting was an open meeting for individuals that were interested in becoming a Board Member or a Coach. 

 

On January 28th, 2021, the first “unofficial” board meeting occurred with interested members that wished to establish the Liberty Eagles Hockey Club. The meeting was attended by Connie Wilson, Jeff Johnson, Curtis Brassel, Holly Casella and Lana Tonkikh.

 

On March 23rd, 2021, the coaching staff was announced for the club’s inaugural season. Grant Haddock was announced as the first ever Eagles Head Coach. Mark Turnipseed and Todd Wilson were announced as the team’s Assistant Coaches.

 

On June 3rd, 2021, the first night of summer camp was held.

 

On June 13th, 2021, the first ever Liberty Eagles hockey fundraiser was held. This event was a fun on-ice skills competition with a raffle and silent auction.

 

On August 19th, 2021, registration for the club’s first ever B-team opened.  On September 14th, 2021, the registration officially closed when the last roster spot was filled.

 

On September 2nd, 2021, the first ever on-ice practice was held at the Wentzville Ice Arena.

 

On December 2nd, 2021, the Liberty Eagles B-team took to the ice for a game. This was an exhibition game that ended with a 4-2 win versus the Timberland Wolves B-team. The first goal was score at 7:10 of the 1st period on a goal by #74 Cole McCune. The first ever assist was awarded to #93 Luc Girard.

 

On April 9th, 2022, the Liberty Eagles B-team played in (and won) their first ever B-team league game defeating Priory by a 3-2 score.

 

On May 18th, 2022, the first annual meeting was held. President Connie Wilson passed the presidential torch to Holly Casella. Sara Howarth and Todd Bill were voted onto the Board.

 

On May 20th, 2022, the Club formally announced that Mark Turnipseed was named the Club’s first JV Head Coach. Grant Haddock again accepted the Head Coach position for the B-team.

 

On June 5th, 2022, the Club’s 2nd annual summer camp opened at the Wentzville Ice Arena.

 

On June 25th, 2022, the B-team secured their 1st undefeated season tying the DeSmet Spartans by a score of 4-4 to finish the season with 9 wins, 0 losses and 1 tie.

 

On July 20th, 2022, the Club held its 1st tryout for the 2022/2023 JV team.
