Mark Turnipseed

Head Coach - JV Team

Born and raised in St. Louis, Mark spent his youth embedded in St. Louis hockey. He grew up a Meramec Shark where at the age of 9 made the switch from forward to goalie. From there, he would enjoy various levels of success playing with the AAA Blues, St. Louis Jr. Blues and at various USNTD camps. Most of this while also playing for Fox High School in the mid-states league. After junior hockey, Mark played a couple seasons with the Missouri River Otters of the UHL before signing at Lindenwood University for their inaugural ice hockey program. During his 2 years at Lindenwood he was a 1st Team All American and ACHA Player of the Year in 2005. That same year, Mark was honored to represent the USA at the World University Games, a collegiate Olympic tournament in Innsbruck, Austria where his team would finish 4th and he would be recognized as one of the top goaltenders at the tournament. After graduation, Mark was retained at Lindenwood in a coaching role where he would help take the program to 2 national championships during his 6 years. Mark enjoys coaching and sharing his knowledge of the game with today’s young players. Growing up he spent many years instructing at numerous goaltending camps around the area and eventually became a goaltending consultant for USA hockey while also at Lindenwood. Since then he has coached high school hockey in St. Louis and most recently was involved in the St. Peters organization for many years before taking some time off to coach his daughter’s soccer teams. Now, Mark looks forward to getting back on the ice and is excited to be a part of the Liberty Hockey Club.

Todd Wilson

Assistant Coach - JV Team

Born in St Louis Mo, Todd played youth hockey for Affton Americans, and High school hockey for Fox High School. Todd has been one of the assistant coaches for Fort Zumwalt West Varsity, Junior Varsity, and B team for the past few years. Todd has also been involved with coaching for St Peters Hockey Club for the past 6 years. Todd's coaching philosophy is one of discipline, teamwork, skill development, and fun. He is committed to excellence as a coach and strives to get the best out of every single player!

MARK SHINABARGAR

Head Coach - JV Team

Mark grew up in St. Louis, MO. He has been playing and coaching hockey for 51 years. He started playing at 3 years old; playing with Valley hockey club, Delta hockey club and Affton Americans hockey club. He enjoyed growing up playing hockey, the experience allowed him the opportunity to play on many great teams and travel across the USA, Canada, and Europe. Mark has been coaching since high school, starting with Valley hockey club, then moving to St. Peters hockey club for his son. Helping to rebuild and coach Fort Zumwalt South’s hockey program became one of his most valued moments. Mark is excited to join the Liberty Eagles hockey club and is looking forward to the season.

SAM SHINABARGAR

Assistant Coach - JV Team

Sam Shinabargar grew up in St. Louis Missouri. Growing up playing hockey for 18 years at St. Peters as well as at Fort Zumwalt South High School. Growing up in an athletic family led him to be involved in sports all his life. Sam ended his high school career being selected into the senior all-star game, then signed to play college baseball at Missouri Baptist University. Now after missing the game that gave him so much, he wants to give back his knowledge to the next generation of hockey players at Liberty High School.

Grant Haddock

Assistant Coach - JV Team

A St. Louis native, Grant grew up in Kirkwood and played at Kirkwood High School. He fondly remembers playing in the Mid-States Hockey Championships and experiencing the thrill of hoisting back-to-back Cups with an amazing bunch of teammates. These experiences led to fun exploits on inline and ice hockey mens’ leagues. Grant spent several years with his older boys coaching 12U and 14U inline hockey in the St. Charles area. After these initial years as a coach, he began coaching at the St. Peters Hockey Club. From Mini-Mites through Bantam, he has been the Head Coach of many teams along the way and, in what’s past is prologue fashion, has been fortunate enough to guide some of those young players to hoist Blue Note Cups of their own over the years. Recently, he served as the Head Coach of the Holt High School B-Team. Delighted to be part of this exciting, inaugural season of the Liberty High School Hockey Club, he is a USAH CEP Level 4 Coach with a “student of the game,” perspective. He’s a firm believer in bringing together a skillful, earnest, and invested group of coaches that will nurture and protect a positive team culture and embrace the philosophy of hockey as a rehearsal for good citizenship and future leaders.

Mike Winkler

Assistant Coach – B Team

Born in St. Louis, MO, Mike played youth hockey for the Creve Coeur Comets from mini mite through bantam. He then played four years at Pattonville High School in the mid-states league followed by four years at the University of Missouri-St. Louis in the ACHA. He has coached, and continues to coach, various levels in the St. Peter’s organization from 6u through bantam along with spring Sting teams. Mike’s coaching philosophy involves skill development, accountability, and continuous growth in a team setting.

Charlie Jones

Assistant Coach – B Team

Charlie began coaching as a junior at Francis Howell North High School. Sidelined with a medical issue, he focused his attention on coaching the other goalies on his team. After graduation, he continued working with the Francis Howell North Knights varsity goaltenders until the club folded in 2022. Charlie is on staff with the Winterland Instructional Program, where he coaches goalies and skaters at all ages and skill levels from 6u-Adults. He is also an assistant coach with the St. Louis Rockets. Charlie has been a goalie for 13 years. A long-time student of Racine Goalie Academy, Charlie was both an attendee and counselor for Mitch Korn’s Goalie Camp. He is an USA Hockey Level 3 Coach.
